Mr. Schumann's expertise in building innovative security businesses has
enabled Cinea to position itself for leadership. As General Manager, he
leverages his 17 years of technology security experience to drive Cinea
towards its continuing mission of providing world-class solutions for
the entertainment industry. Prior to co-founding Cinea in 1999, Mr. Schumann was chief architect
for the ground-breaking Digital Video Express "Divx" encrypted
DVD platform. Beginning in 1994, Mr. Schumann spearheaded the development,
deployment and operation of this leading-edge consumer system, using encryption
and serialization watermarking technologies. Mr. Schumann also directed
planning for international expansion and the exploitation of Divx technology
in new markets. Earlier in his career, Mr. Schumann was a senior IT executive
at Circuit City Stores, Inc., where he spent over seven years deploying
sophisticated secure telecommunication, transaction processing and customer
support technologies. Mr. Schumann has a Bachelor's degree in Computer
Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Mr. Segal directs the development of Cinea's world class forensic
watermarking and content protection technologies and products.
His over 20 years of software development, technical leadership,
and systems engineering expertise has enabled Cinea to develop
watermarking and content protection solutions that are unparalleled
in the industry. Mr. Segal was previously chief technology officer
for East3 Ltd., a neurofeedback technology development company.
He gained extensive understanding of the digital content security
market while director of interactive systems for Divx. Mr. Segal's
career also included vice president of technology at iXL Inc.,
where he was responsible for all engineering, quality assurance,
and integration testing. Prior, Mr. Segal spent five years in
the Flight Dynamics Group at the Goddard Space Flight Center.
Mr. Segal has a Master's degree in Engineering Management from
George Washington University.
Mr. Roth brings tremendous experience in both the digital convergence
and entertainment industries to his position as vice president of business
development. His deep understanding of the complexities inherent in the
entertainment value chain is invaluable in facilitating Cinea's growth.
He has spent the past eight years as a leading executive in the digital
convergence marketplace, and the prior 10 years as an executive in the
film industry. Mr. Roth's career prior to co-founding Cinea included senior
positions in sales, business development and product marketing for major
media companies including AOL Time Warner, MGM/UA and Turner Broadcasting.
He co-founded the VIC, a digital media professional association in Southern
California, and currently serves on the National Advisory Board for New
Leaders for New Schools, an educational non-profit organization. Mr. Roth
earned his Master's of Business Administration from the Andersen School
at UCLA and a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology and Society from
Vassar College.
