Our proven solutions and real-world experience stem from the central role
Cinea staff have played in driving digital content security.
Our team pioneered one of the first digital content security solutions
as part of Digital Video Express (Divx), the original provider of encrypted
DVD systems for the home. Renowned for its sophisticated, layered approach
to securing content, including both hardware-based encryption and forensic
(serialization) watermarking, the system was deployed in over 200,000
homes and successfully protected over 700 Hollywood titles.
Building upon our team's Digital Video Express expertise and technologies,
we founded Cinea in 1999 to develop world-class digital content security
solutions. Today the team holds 20 critical patents in content protection
and forensic watermarking.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Dolby
Laboratories, one of the industry's premier providers and a renowned
technology innovator, Cinea is focused on creating anti-piracy solutions
that enable new revenue streams for our customers and significantly improve
the profitability of studios, distributors, exhibitors and vendors. We
work closely with major associations, including the Motion Picture Association
of America, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and
the Digital Cinema Initiative to drive industry-wide anti-piracy success.
We are solely focused on providing the most effective anti-piracy solutions
available in the marketplace. Customers such as The Walt Disney Company,
Sony Pictures Entertainment, New Line Cinema, and Miramax Films, and vendors
such as Cinram and Deluxe Media Services, use our solutions to protect
content across the entertainment industry.
Essential protection component
Piracy exists largely because it has been
inexpensive to steal digital content and easy to avoid capture.
However, by offering robust forensic watermarking technologies, that seamlessly
integrate into the content creation, distribution and playback workflow, Cinea
is enabling the entertainment industry to substantially increase both the cost of
illegally acquiring content and the likelihood that pirates will be caught - thereby
significantly reducing the number of pirates willing and able to steal content.
